‘Paper boats, jamuns and long drives’:
Trina Saha and Lahoma Bhattacharya get drenched in the spirit of the season
As the sweltering heat gives way to cooling
rains, actresses Trina Saha and Lahoma Bhattacharya joined Calcutta Times for an exclusive shoot and revealed why
monsoon is so close to their hearts. From sailing paper boats to gorging on khichuri, read on to know what they love to do when it rains...
Lahoma Bhattacharya says...There is something about the sound of raindrops; it’s just so relaxing. It also makes everything indoors feel cozier. Nothing beats a warm bowl of soupy noodles or khichuri, aloo and begun bhaja. Absolute bliss!
I love falling asleep to the sound of rain falling on the roof. It’s the easiest way to unlock a great nap. I find nothing is more peaceful and calming than the sound of rain
The fruit of the season, jamun, brings back so many childhood memories! My Dida would make me kalo jaam makha. The dish is essentially jamun, a pinch of salt and sugar, and green chillies for flavour, all mashed together to create an explosion of taste. It’s my absolute favourite and still is a must have for me every monsoon

Trina Saha says...I love to get drenched in the rain, especially the first shower of the season. It gives me a sense of unbridled freedom. I also love to make paper boats and set them afloat in puddles. It used to be my favourite pastime as a kid, and still is

When it rains, I love to sit beside a window or stand on the balcony and watch the rain-drenched outdoors. I like the very sound of falling rain; there’s a rhythm in it. Even the splash of rainwater on your face can be so refreshing!
