New cast for Charulata 2011

Agnidev replaces Samadarshi Dutta and Bratya Basu with Dibyendu and Arjun
New cast for Charulata 2011
That Agnidev Chatterjee is making Charulata 2011 is old news. What is now making headlines is the fact that Samadarshi Dutta, earlier roped in to play Amol, who becomes Sanjoy here, has been replaced.
Dibyendu Mukherjee is the new Sanjay. Theres another replacement too. Bratya Basu is no longer part of the venture . Arjun Chakraborty is the new entrant. He will be playing Vikramjit, the new Bhupati. Says the director, Samadarshi has date issues. Bratya was keen to come on board but he wasnt allowed to do so from the ministry. Hence, the new cast.
He gave us reasons why he settled for Arjun and Dibyendu. For Sanjays character, I wanted a smart guy with oodles of attitude. It is necessary that he knows how to strum on the guitar. After having met Dibyendu, I felt he fit the role. My Vikramjit is a news editor. I chose Arjun for his suave look. He can stand out in a crowd, adds Agnidev
Dibyendu, however, cant stop smilimg after having inked the deal. This film has nothing to do with Rays Charulata , but I know for sure that the audience will draw parallels with Soumitra Chatterjees character. How can the two of us even be compared? He was brilliant as Amol. I will give the character my best shot but the rest is in the hands of the audience. What I like about the film is the concept and the way each character is linked to the other, says Dibyendu. Rituparna Sengupta plays the lead. She is Chaiti here instead of Charulata. The actor cant stop gushing about her look in the film. Chaiti has all the the qualities of a modern woman. Her look is very contemporary and yet has some traditional traits. This is what I was looking for in the character, she admits.
Speaking about the look, the director says, Chaiti is sexually frustrated and lonely. She has differences with her husband. So, we didnt want her look to go overboard. The shoot starts from September 4.
