However, on March 9, a five-member Supreme Court constitution bench headed by chief justice Dipak Mishra ruled that passive euthanasia is permissible in our country.
Finally, the CBFC Mumbai office gave a U/A certificate (parental guidance for children aged 12 or below) and suggested to attach a disclaimer, mentioning that it doesn’t speak for mercy killing. It also recommended blurring the manufacturer’s label on a vial and syringe shown in ’Pupa’.
The film tells the story of Subhro (Rahul Banerjee), who returns to India after his mother passes away. When he is getting ready to head back to the US, his father (Pradip Mukherjee) suffers from a cerebral attack. Subhro’s uncle (Kamaleshwar Mukherjee) advises him to leave behind the emotion and go back to the US. His fiancé, who is starting her integrated Ph.D. in the US, is now left with no other choice but to leave him and go ahead. Sudiptaa Chakraborty plays Subhro’s sister in the film. In this turmoil, a shocking incident leads to the climax of the story.
