Rakhee Gulzar is all set to star in a Bengali film after a hiatus of four years. The septuagenarian actress will be playing the protagonist in Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee’s next,
Amar Boss, the shoot for which is likely to begin on January 3.
The actress had last worked in late director Gautam Halder’s
Nirban in 2019, before which she had played the lead in Rituparno Ghosh’s 2003 film
Shubho Mahurat.
Talking about Rakhee Gulzar’s comeback, Nandita said, “There are a few actors who you dream to work with; Rakhee di is one of them. She was on my mind when I was writing the story and I’m very happy that things have panned out the way they did.”
Shiboprosad, who is also a part of the cast, added, “We’ve been talking about working with Rakhee di for quite some time. Didi (Nandita) and I were both caught up with Raktabeej. The first important task after the release was to complete the Amar Boss script to present the full story to Rakhee di. At the narration in Mumbai, she loved it and gave us the dates.”
Also part of the relationship drama is Srabanti, who will be working with the veteran actress for the first time. “My parents are so happy that I’ll be sharing the screen with a legend like Rakhee ma’am. She is my father’s favourite actress. On the other hand, I’ve always wanted to work with Nandita di and Shibu da. I’m sure I’ll get to learn a lot from them,” the actress said.
