Debapratim Dasgupta aka Taju, a well-known scriptwriter for television, is set for his second film — Ishwar — about a cemetery guard. The cast includes
Saswata Chatterjee, Priyanka Sarkar, Paran Bandopadhyay, Anindya Chatterjee, Gaurav Chakrabarty, Biswajit Chakraborty, Kaushik Kar, Manasi Sinha and Sonalee Chaudhury.
Said Taju, “The guard, Ishwar, is under the impression that humans sleep in their graves, tired of life’s rat race.
So, he doesn’t allow anyone to make noise at the burial ground. He even sings lullaby at a child’s grave. This man eventually gets married and proves to be a disappointment for his wife. Their relationship starts souring and Ishwar realises that life is a celebration of death.”
Music for the film is composed by Prasen and Rudranil Chowdhury, while Jojo, Sushwati Mallick and Rupankar have lent their voices to the songs. Manas Ganguly has been roped in as the DoP, while the script, screenplay and direction are by Taju. It’s the director’s second film after Traash Bunon. Ishwar will go on the floors end of this month.
