After staging several shows of their latest production, Ekla Chalo Re, the members of Swapnasandhani are taking a break for a couple of months. “Our last show was on August 25. After that, we have been taking a break. We have a call show. But we will host our shows on a regular basis from November onwards,” said
Kaushik Sen, the director of the group.
While elaborating the reasons behind the sabbatical, Kaushik pointed out that while there are certain date issues, one of the big reasons is the fact that Deshankar Halder is not in town.
“Currently, Debshankar is touring the US. After he comes back, he will be busy in October. Meanwhile, we also have a bit of date issues with the auditorium we perform in and hence we had to cancel one show. From November onwards, we are back and on December, we have a lot of shows,” Kaushik added.
Swapnasandhani’s Ekla Chalo Re is based on
Utpal Dutt’s play. The play features veteran actor Ashok Mukhopadhyay, along with Debshankar, Surajit Banerjee, Reshmi Sen, Kaushik Sen and others.
Interestingly, actor
Anirban Bhattacharya designed the front of the play for its posters. “Anirban and I were shooting for the telly series, Bhumikanya, recently. When he first heard about the play, he said he would design the font. And then he sent one design and we absolutely loved it. Designing posters, I think, is his one of the most favourite pastimes,” Kaushik Sen said.
