Rati Pandey's upcoming Bhojpuri film, 'Rang De Basanti', faced burdens with the Central Board of Film Certification. The CBFC insisted on a title change due to its similarity to the 2006 Hindi blockbuster starring
Aamir Khan. On March 18, 2024, the matter was brought before the Bombay High Court. Scheduled for release on March 22, 2024, the Bhojpuri movie faced resistance from the CBFC, despite the makers' refusal to alter the title.
Ultimately, the CBFC also imposed several edits on the film.
Recently, talking to Times Now, Rati Pandey said that each of them is involved in the case because they are a part of it. She can understand the feelings the makers are facing, their troubles, turmoils and hurdles. This was a big-budget Bhojpuri movie with a different flavour. It was going to be released in almost all regions of India which was a first for a Bhojpuri film. She was very excited because it has almost been a year now since they completed shooting. The expenditure was also so much that was done on the film not to forget the hard work they put in. She is from
Bihar too so it was a big celebration in her family that her film was coming out. It was very large scale. They planned grand promotions too in metro cities and rural areas. They were even supposed to pay surprise visits to theatres. It has all come to a halt now so obviously they are all feeling bad.
Rati further said that she is not aware of any cuts as it is a very family-oriented film. There is no vulgarity in it otherwise she wouldn't have done it all. There is nothing as such that can be censored. She would recommend the children to watch the film as there is nothing absurd in it.
Rati Pandey is mainly known for her appearances in several famous television shows.
