Fans took to social media to slam production house Warner Bros for asking Johnny to exit the film after he lost the libel case against a tabloid that dubbed him as a ‘wife beater’. Besides calling out the double standards of the company, fans even started a petition to have the actress removed, threatening to boycott the film.
Reacting to the social media backlash, Amber brushed it aside, and claimed that it was all “paid campaigns.”

"Paid rumours and paid campaigns on social media don't dictate [casting decisions] because they have no basis in reality," Heard said.
She went on to add, "Only the fans actually made ‘Aquaman’ and ‘Aquaman 2’ happen. I'm excited to get started next year."

Meanwhile, it was reported that WB had to pay Depp his full fee of 10 million, even though he shot just one scene for the film. Talks are currently on to cast another actor as the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald. Reports claim that ‘Hannibal’ actor Mads Mikkelsen is in the running to take over the role.
