"Wake Up Dead Man" is set to start production soon and is expected to be released in 2025. Although plot details are still under wraps, Johnson and Craig have hinted that this will be Benoit Blanc’s “most dangerous case yet.”
Johnson expressed his love for the whodunit genre, saying, “One of the things I love most is how malleable the genre is. There’s a whole tonal spectrum from Carr to Christie, and exploring that range is one of the most exciting things about making Benoit Blanc movies.”
The original "Knives Out," released by Lionsgate in 2019, was a big hit, earning $312 million on a $40 million budget. Netflix then acquired the rights to the series for over $450 million, releasing the sequel "
Glass Onion" in 2022. "Glass Onion" was notably the first Netflix film to be shown in AMC Theaters, Regal Cinemas, and Cinemark, making around $15 million during its week-long run. The release strategy for the third film is yet to be announced.
"Knives Out" is famous for its star-studded casts. The first film featured Jamie Lee Curtis, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Michael Shannon, Don Johnson, and Toni Collette. The sequel, "Glass Onion," included Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Kate Hudson, and Dave Bautista.

"Wake Up Dead Man" will see Andrew Scott and Daniel Craig reunite, having previously worked together in the 2015 James Bond film "Spectre." Scott, who gained wider recognition as the Hot Priest in Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s series "Fleabag," has recently starred in "All of Us Strangers" and Netflix’s adaptation of "Ripley." The Irish actor is represented by CAA, United Agents, Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole, and Relevant.
With an exciting new cast and the promise of an intriguing mystery, "Knives Out 3" is set to continue the beloved whodunit tradition that fans have come to love.
