Actor
Brad Pitt is set to return as Cliff Booth, the rugged stuntman from 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood', in a new film directed by
David Fincher. The script for this follow-up project has been written by
Quentin Tarantino.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the movie is currently in development at Netflix, where Fincher has an exclusive deal. In the original 2019 film, directed by Tarantino, Pitt portrayed Cliff Booth, the loyal and charismatic stuntman who stood by his close friend, actor Rick Dalton, played by
Leonardo DiCaprio. His performance in the role earned him an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
DiCaprio's Return Uncertain
While Pitt’s return has been confirmed, it remains uncertain whether DiCaprio will be part of the new film. The idea for this project reportedly emerged after Tarantino decided to shelve 'The Movie Critic', which was supposed to be his tenth and final film. The planned movie was set in the 1970s and focused on a film critic who wrote for an adult magazine. Tarantino’s novelization of 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' hinted at Cliff Booth's deep love for cinema, which would have connected with that storyline.
Pitt and Fincher’s Successful Collaborations
This new project reunites Pitt and Fincher, who have previously collaborated on 'Se7en' (1995), 'Fight Club' (1999), and 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button' (2008). Their partnership has resulted in some of the most memorable films of the past few decades.
Tarantino Writing for Another Director
Tarantino writing a script for another director is not an unusual move. In the past, he has penned scripts for films like 'True Romance' (directed by Tony Scott) and 'From Dusk Till Dawn' (directed by Robert Rodriguez).
Title and Further Details Awaited
The title and additional details of the upcoming film have not yet been announced. However, fans of 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' and Brad Pitt’s portrayal of Cliff Booth can look forward to seeing the character return in a brand-new story.
