Dave Bautista reveals he landed rom-com after his ‘unattractive’ comment, says, he’s now making his way there, 'like a full-on rom-com'

Some say manifestations are powerful, and in Dave Bautista’s case, it was more than powerful. Earlier this year the actor expressed his desire to work in rom-coms, and soon after he is flooded with offers.
In January last year (2023), Dave Bautista told Page Six that he is ‘not your typical rom-com lead’, and also wondered if he is ‘that unattractive’ for rom-coms! “Is there something that unappealing about me that excludes me from these parts?” he asked.Dave Bautista, who was promoting his film ‘Knock at the Cabin’ indeed knocked it out of the park with his ‘unattractive’ comment. The internet went frenzy over his interview, and shortly after he was flooded with roles.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter Dave Bautista revealed that those viral comments “sparked quite a conversation’ and he started getting a lot of phone calls after that. And just like that he is now making his way into that territory, like a ‘full-on rom-com’ with his upcoming film ‘The Killer’s Game’. The upcoming film also him playing the lead. That’s not all, Dave Bautista’s character also has a love interest in the film, which also marks his first time ever!

Speaking about taking on the film, Dave Bautista stated that it was ‘nerve-racking’ for him, and that he is still a little self-conscious about it. He also recalled that a few years ago, he promised himself to not take many supporting roles, as it was time for him to seek out lead roles.
