Jennifer Garner recently opened up about how she got in shape for her cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine. In her Instagram post, she shared details about her fitness routine to prepare for her role as Elektra, a character she first played in the 2005 film Elektra.
At 52 years old, Jennifer revealed that while she was in good shape, she needed to get specifically “Marvel fit” for her role. She posted a video showing her intense training regimen. She worked with her longtime stunt double, Shauna Duggins, and followed a rigorous workout plan set by trainer Beth J. Nicely. This included daily workouts, boxing three times a week with coach FLVCO, and using the Peloton bike led by instructor Bec Gentry. Jennifer described the experience as a “SuperHeroSummer,” where she and her team enjoyed training and preparing for her return as Elektra.
Jennifer expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to work with the cast, including Hugh Jackman, Dafne Keen, Channing Tatum, and Wesley Snipes. She said that filming was a joyful experience and felt like a dream come true. She praised director Shawn Levy and Ryan Reynolds for their talent and support, noting how they helped elevate those around them.
Even though Jennifer’s ex-partner Ben Affleck did not appear in the film, there was a joke about their past relationship in the movie. Director Shawn Levy confirmed that they made sure to get Jennifer’s approval for any jokes involving her and Ben. This included a scripted reference to Daredevil and an improvised joke about Ben’s appearance since their divorce. Levy emphasized that they always checked with the individuals involved to ensure everyone was comfortable with the content and that nothing was meant to be hurtful.112309372
