Billboard Music Awards winners' list: Olivia Rodrigo, BTS, Kanye West, Taylor Swift win big

The Billboard Music Awards were held on Sunday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Hosted by Sean "Diddy" Combs, the award show saw artists like Olivia Rodrigo, BTS, Taylor Swift, Doja Cat, The Kid LAROI, and Megan Thee Stallion taking home top honours of the night.
Leading this year's nominations was The Weeknd, with a total of 17 nods in various categories for his Dawn FM album and singles.Although the night held great promise for the singer, he managed to win only one award for Top R&B Male Artist.
Olivia Rodrigo, Kanye West and Drake entered the night as big winners. Before the show could kick off Rodrigo and West, known as Ye, both took home six awards during a non-televised ceremony on Sunday. Rodrigo, who won best new artist, also won the top female artist, beating out the likes of Adele, Doja Cat, Dua Lipa and even Taylor Swift.
Drake was named top artist, male artist, rap male artist and rap album for "Certified Lover Boy." The rapper extended his record as the most decorated winner in the history of the awards show with 34 wins.
Ye made his mark in the faith-based categories - again: The rapper won top Christian artist for the first time, but he claimed top gospel artist and gospel song for a third year in a row. He also received top gospel album for the second time.
The Kid LAROI became a first-time winner, taking home five wins for his song "Stay" with Justin Bieber - whose Billboard Music Awards win count rose to 26.
Doja Cat won top R&B artist and R&B female artist for the second consecutive year. She also competed for top R&B album and female artist.
Taylor Swift - who has the second most-ever award show wins with 29 - won four awards. Bad Bunny received two wins while R&B duo Silk Sonic, comprised of Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak, won their first-ever award for top R&B song through "Leave the Door Open."
K-Pop superstars BTS made history at the awards show. The boy-band officially beat the record set by Destiny’s Child to become the group to win the most Billboard Music Awards in history.
At this year’s ceremony, BTS won Top Duo/Group, Top Song Sales Artist, and Top Selling Song (for their smash hit “Butter“), marking their second consecutive year winning all three awards. 2022 also marks BTS’s third overall Top Duo/Group win at the Billboard Music Awards (they first won the award in 2019). BTS, who has won a trophy at every single Billboard Music Awards since 2017.
The group currently boasts 12 Billboard Music Award wins, breaking Destiny’s Child’s previous record of 11 wins, which remained unbeaten for 17 years.

Becky G, who released the album "Esquemas" on Friday, also performed her hit song "MAMIII," which topped the Billboard's Hot Latin Songs chart. Sheeran delivered a remote performance from Northern Ireland, where he is on tour.
Other acts taking the stage included Scott, who was nominated in the dance/electronic music category, as well as Miranda Lambert, Meghan Thee Stallion, Morgan Wallen, and Grammy Awards darlings Silk Sonic.
