Having portrayed glam avatars in films like Maa Abbayi, Rangula Ratnam and Silly Fellows, actress Chitra Shukla is all set to feature in her first love story in Tollywood. Chitra will romance actor Vishwanth in a film titled Kadal. Helmed by Kalyanji Gogana, the film is touted to be a ‘nostalgic love story’, and Chitra says it pushed her to her limits as an actor.
“It’s my first love story and it was a challenge for me because my character has many layers to it. I play this homely girl, who’s independent and dynamic and has this massive responsibility on her shoulders,” says the Indore girl, adding, “Kadal is a film about how two individuals from completely different backgrounds manage to fall in love and have to deal with massive objection from their family to be together.” The film, which is set in 2004, has completed its first schedule and has music by
Mani Sharma. “We’ve just started the second schedule and the mood in the camp is one of optimism. We think this will be a love story that everybody can relate to,” Chitra adds.
