On Thursday evening, students of Narsee Monjee College of Commerce & Economics (NM College), kick-started Diwali celebrations with a group of enthusiastic women , addressed as ‘didis’, being housewives residing in the slums near to their college.
“Our vacations begin soon, so we decided to celebrate Diwali very differently this year unlike we have done in the past, we invited our didis for ‘ANMOL’ – a special Diwali.

An idea by our TY student Vidur Dhabaria, we played cricket with the didis, and then distributed sweets to them for their families,” shared organisers Ishika Madaan and Riya Verma, who were also present at the event.
Happiest among all present was Ayushi Shukla, FY student, who ecstatically shares, “These didi's are always busy with their house hold routines and looking after their families.
