Directed by Omkar Barve and Jyoti Subhash, Hameed – The Unsung Humanist commenced with voices of Naseeruddin Shah, Amruta Subhash and Hameed Dabholkar during the screening.

As the documentary proceeded, one could see Mirjoli, Dalwai’s village in Ratnagiri district, where his family still resides and some interactions with them. Belonging to a conventional Muslim family and living in a period when the though process of most people was orthodox, Dalwai questioned the practice of triple talaq and also established the Muslim Satyashodhak Mandal. The documentary features interactions about Dalwai with many known people from the society. These have been put forth beautifully. The event was graced by the likes of Naseeruddin Shah, Ratna Pathak Shah, Amol Palekar, Shriram Lagoo, Deepa Lagoo and Amruta Subhash. Among the younger lot, we spotted actor Saksham Kulkarni, Prasad Jawade, Parna Pethe and Dnyanada Ramtirthkar at the screening.
