Alisha Prajapati, who has been busy shooting for her upcoming Gujarati film Teacher of the Year, has quit the Gujarati play Lali-Lila of which she has been a part for a while now. The play that has completed 88 shows in various cities including Ahmedabad and Mumbai, also features Tarika Tripathi and is based on Siamese twins and their struggles. When asked about her decision to quit the play after being a part of it for a long time, Alisha, who plays Lali in the play, says, “I am exploring newer opportunities for which I would need to travel to Mumbai often and I might not be able to dedicate the same amount of time and effort to the play as I have done in the past.” The play, directed by Devendra Pem, has helped her to hone her craft as an actor.
Talking about it, Alisha says, “The play is really close to my heart as it has given me some amazing memories and it has been a lovely experience working with the entire team. Tarika, who plays Lila, my Siamese twin sister in the play, and I developed a close bond and it has been a beautiful experience for me. I am thankful to the entire cast and crew who have been really supportive of me throughout my journey.”
Who’s the next Lali? Before Devendra took over the play as the director, popular Gujarati actress Disha Vakani played the role of Lila, and now Mansi Shah will replace Alisha as the new Lila. Mansi, who sounds excited about this new opportunity, says, “Playing Lali is like a dream come true. I always wanted to play a character which is challenging and it’s been two days that we have started rehearsing for the play. It’s deeply satisfying to do this role which is quite different.”
