How did this Gladrags Manhunt contest 2003 winner enter Kollywood? Radha Mohan and his crew had come to Mumbai for an audition for their new project Abhiyum Naanum. I met Radha Mohan and he narrated the character to me. Next day, I went to him, adapting myself to the role with the appropriate body language and mannerisms and he instantly liked me.
I was in Paris when I got a call from him confirming my selection. After doing Abhiyum Naanum, I can confidently say that no hero has ever had a challenging debut like mine.
So, does Ganesh consider himself lucky as he has had a great start with Duet movies and as he has also acted opposite Trisha, one of the top stars of Kollywood. I believe that man makes his own luck. It was due to my hardwork and conviction that I could act in Abhiyum Naanum. I believe in hardwork and yes, luck to an extent.
How has the journey from modelling to TV to cinema been? I was born and brought up in Mumbai. It was my friends who suggested I take part in the Gladrags Manhunt contest. I took a sabbatical from work and got into professional modelling. That was when I discovered my passion for acting and joined a theatre group. Soon, I got an offer for a crossover film Angrez and then, there was no looking back. Later, GV films offered me the lead role in their three-dimensional teleserial Mayavi, which won the Jurys Special Award for Excellence in TV drama at the Seoul Drama Awards in South Korea. I was sitting near a few Hollywood actors and was on the top of the world while receiving the award. As soon as I returned from Korea, Abhiyum Naanum happened.
Did the former Mr India and Miss Chennai (Trisha) bond on the sets? I met Trisha only on the sets of Abhiyum Naanum. We discussed our modelling days and entry into films. Trisha and I are great fitness freaks. We had great fun on the sets.
Is Ganesh setting a new trend after Madhavan by travelling from Mumbai to Kollywood? I am a Tamilian and am only back to my roots. If it is a new trend, then I am happy about it. Acting is the best platform to express your emotions and I am ready to work in any language to quench my thirst for creative satisfaction.
Ganesh speaks like a mature actor while talking about signing new projects. I have signed a Bollywood film and another project with Duet movies. I am getting many film offers but after Abhiyum Naanum, I have the responsibility of doing only good films. So, I am taking my time to sign new projects, says the actor.
Is there anyone in particular with whom Ganesh aspires to work with? The list is long. I want to work with Mani Ratnam sir and new directors like Vijay and Venkat Prabhu among others. I am ready to take up any script that excites me.
Ganesh has always been a topper in his school and college and has won the best employee award during his two-year stint as an electronic engineer at Patni Computers. What are the hobbies of this multi-talented celebrity? I am a voracious reader.
I believe that reading opens ones imagination. I love to travel and explore places. I have also learnt Carnatic music. So, some day, I may take up singing too. I have so many things to do that one lifetime is too short for me, signs off the passionate artiste.
