Vidya Balan got into the garbs of a detective for her latest release ‘Neeyat’ and fans are loving her fringe-edgy avatar. Decoding Vidya’s look in the movie, celebrity stylist Aastha Sharma told ETimes, “Anu (Menon) was very clear that she wanted Vidya to stick out from the rest of the cast like a sore thumb. Since she was portraying a CBI official, we wanted to make her costume utilitarian.

Hence it had multiple pockets, gloves, a hood etc. We went for layering as well since the weather was cold and it is established in the film that her character is not too fond of the cold.”
Vidya’s hairdo in the film has received a lot of chatter. “Adding the fringe was a great idea, since she has never had one before. We did various look tests for the same and finally all of us agreed that it adds a little something to the character. Working with Vidya was absolutely a dream. She’s a wonderful person and also often the most happy and cheerful person around!” shares Aastha.
‘Neeyat’ features Ram Kapoor as a flashy businessman, whose mysterious death is probed by Vidya. Speaking about styling his luxurious character, Aastha says, “Ram Kapoor plays an extremely wealthy and flamboyant businessman. We experimented with thicker richer fabrics - velvet and brocade elements were brought into his jackets. We even experimented with layering and gave him sweaters and shirts under his trench coats. He had to look his sharp best at all times!” Also dishing out style goals in the film is Rahul Bose, whose polished presence is being marked by many. “Rahul Bose was a pleasure to style! His fits and silhouettes needed to be impeccable. We used subdued colours on him mixed with a bright element in his clothing. We also kept his styling very British giving him a shirt under his sweaters. His silhouette cuts were sharp and he was accessorised with cufflinks and sunglasses which just added to the perfection of his look,” concludes Aastha.
