'Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro' is considered one of the most cult movies of Hindi cinema, though, it had a very unique appeal, only to some sections of the audience. The film also boasted of a great ensemble which included
Naseeruddin Shah, Pankaj Kapur, Neena Gupta,
Satish Kaushik,
Satish Shah among others. But recently in an interview, Satish Shah revealed that the actors didn't find it funny while they were shooting for it.
Shah said they found the film so unfunny while filming it, in an interview with Bollywood Hungama.
He added further that it was only
Kundan Shah's conviction that they went by because he found it funny. However, they did crack up while watching the film. Since they also knew about the back stories, it made the film more hilarious to them.
The 'Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai' actor also revealed that Kundan Shah made every actor pay for the premiere of the film. 'Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro' was made under a budget of Rs 8 lakh. While Kundan made every actor buy the ticket of the film, Satish had his first moment of recognition for the film.
'Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro' which was a satire, had released in 1983. It was not a success at the box-office but over the years it slowly started developing a fan following and is now considered a cult. Apart from this film, Satish Shah is largely known and loved for his roles in 'Yeh Joh Hai Zindagi' and 'Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai'.
