Filmmaker Mira Nair will be making her next film on the book Queen Of Katwe. Speaking at the FICCI FRAMES 2013 Mira said in an interaction with
Zoya Akhtar said the book is a story about a teenager Phiona Mutesi who became a chess champion. Mutesi despite the difficult circumstances living in the slums of Katwe in Kampala Uganda made a name for herself. The book is based on an award winning ESPN magazine article.
She learnt to play chess using bottle caps and cardboards sheet.
Mira Nair's upcoming release The Reluctant Fundamentalist is also based on a book Pakistani author Mohsin Hamid is being released in India. Her most accliamed film Salaam Bombay which completes 25 years of release will also be re-released this year.
