Nagesh Kukunoor's upcoming film, 'Dhanak', has generated curiosity among cinegoers for all the right reasons. Post the launch of its music that has garnered a positive response, the movie is now being sought by international distributors.
The story revolves around eight-year-old Chotu and his sister Pari, who travel across the Rajasthan desert to meet Shah Rukh Khan, in the hope that the Bollywood superstar will help the young boy get his eyesight back.
Shiladitya Bora, CEO, Drishyam Films that is presenting it, says, 'Thematically, 'Dhanak' is such a universal film that we have received a lot of buyer interest from diverse territories, right from USA to Chile, Norway and the subcontinent.' It has already won two awards at its premiere at the Berlinale last year and has successfully toured the top-tier international festival circuit.
The film, which has charmed the Indian diaspora as well as international audiences, is being released simultaneously in India, USA, UAE, Singapore, Pakistan and Sri Lanka by leading distributors on June 17.
