Bollywood lost legendary filmmaker Basu Chatterjee today, who passed away at a city hospital. Ashoke Pandit, president of the Indian Film & Television Directors' Association (IFTDA), had told PTI, “He passed away peacefully in his sleep in the morning. He wasn't keeping well for quite some time due to old age and died at his residence. It's a great loss to the film industry.”

Basu Chatterjee was best known for his entertaining dramas like ‘Choti Si Baat’, ‘Rajnigandha’, ‘Baaton Baaton Mein’ and ‘Chameli Ki Shaadi’ to name a few. Filmmakers Madhur Bhandarkar, Sudhir Mishra and several others expressed grief on social media.
