Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone's dreamy proposal story; The 'Gully Boy' star was in cahoots with his sister and mom, acquiring the ring

Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone's love story has been a fan favourite right from the time when reports of their dating came out. Their journey to marriage, which includes everything from on-set romance to a secret engagement in the Maldives, is pure gold and all things romantic.
They first met at an award show, and since then, Ranveer has been in awe of Deepika. Her utter beauty took Ranveer by surprise. Ranveer in that moment was simply awestruck, and well who would not be, we are talking about Deepika who stole people's hearts right after her debut.
The same year, they crossed paths on the sets of 'Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela,' directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Both their on-screen chemistry and their off-screen closeness were undeniable. The couple kept things low-key during filming, even as suspicions about their relationship began to circulate.
During an appearance on a popular talk show, ‘Koffee With Karan’, Ranveer revealed, “There was a famous or infamous reading for Ram Leela at Mr Bhansali's house in Versova. I was supposed to meet him before Deepika's arrival. So, I was sitting at the table and the door was on my left. He has these heavy doors, and he lives by the seaside. So, these heavy doors open and the gush of wind comes from the sea. There, Deepika enters wearing this white chikankari, hair blowing due to the sea wind, just like some sadgi ki moorat I was like, ‘Oh My God'."
Many people believe that the director secretly played matchmaker for the couple. Not only did he give them three blockbusters ('Ram Leela,' 'Bajirao Mastani,' 'Padmaavat') that skyrocketed their fame but also solidified their bond.
All thanks to ‘Koffee With Karan,’ fans got to know this juicy and love-filled insight into their relationship. The couple revealed that they got secretly engaged pretty soon in their relationship, all the while they were subtly dogging rumors of them dating.
During the episode, Ranveer revealed that they got engaged in 2015, stating, “In 2015, I proposed to her. Iske pehle ki koi aur ajaye, maine jake chappal rakh deta hun.” To which she wittily replied, “Advance Booking.”
"So Ram Leela happened, and we were in this (dating phase). At one point, when I felt right, I decided she was the one. So, I thought before anything happens, just put a ring on it. I was in cahoots with my sister and mom, acquiring the ring. We were going on a holiday and I decided that I'd propose to her on the holiday. I got the ring. And, my folks were like, 'are you going to propose? You don't want to consult her parents?' I didn't have that degree or maturity back then. I was like, No, I'm marrying her, so I'll ask her. So we go to the Maldives and I secretly carry the ring with me and we do the sandbank adventure," he further elaborated.

They got engaged in the Maldives, on a private sandbank in the middle of the sea, accessible only by boat. Surrounded by endless blue waters, Ranveer went down on one knee. Deepika, caught off guard and overwhelmed with emotion, said yes. While Ranveer’s family was in on the situation, Deepika and her family had no clue, which initially led to some tension between her mother and the couple, and rightfully so. But fast-forwarding to years, Ranveer is among one of her favorite people. It took some time but it wasn’t impossible.
From a secret engagement to a grand wedding, to welcoming a baby girl, Dua, the couple has had one of the most adored and happy relationships.
