Naseeruddin Shah and Ratna Pathak Shah, one of the most loved power couples in the Indian film industry, have shared a remarkable journey together spanning decades. In a candid interview with Humans Of Bombay, Ratna Pathak Shah, known for her unfiltered honesty, offered insight into the key ingredient that fuels their enduring love and long-lasting marriage. The Dhak Dhak actress looked back on their unconventional love story and shared why Naseeruddin Shah's past relationships held no bearing on their enduring bond.
Recounting the early days of their connection, Ratna Pathak Shah revealed that they were performing together in a play titled 'Sambhog Se Sannyas Tak.' During this time, the realization happened to them that they were genuinely meant to be together. She candidly shared that they were somewhat naive, not delving into too many questions and just deciding to give it a try, saying, "This sounds good, let’s just try," and remarkably, it worked out. It was a fortunate twist of fate that brought them together.
Ratna Pathak Shah also addressed the matter of Naseeruddin Shah's past relationships. She expressed that his prior romantic entanglements were of no consequence to her, as her love for him transcended the boundaries of the past. Naseeruddin Shah had already been separated from his ex-wife for a considerable period, and she was deeply in love with him. Reflecting on this, she shared her perspective, "As long as I am the last, she is okay."
The couple's early days of marriage were far from conventional, marked by Naseeruddin's demanding film schedule. Ratna Pathak Shah humorously recalled their unconventional honeymoon that was interrupted when Naseeruddin had to return to the set of 'Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro.' The shoot was arduous and kept them apart for days, leaving her unsure of his whereabouts. It was an exciting yet challenging time in their journey together.
Naseeruddin Shah, who was previously married to Manara Sikri and shares a daughter, Heeba, with her, found enduring love with Ratna Pathak Shah when they tied the knot in 1982. Together, they have two sons, Imaad and Vivaan, solidifying their bond as a loving family that has stood the test of time.
