Release of Akshay Kumar and Ananya Panday's 'Kesari Chapter 2' postponed to April

Akshay Kumar, Ananya Panday, and R. Madhavan star in 'Kesari Chapter 2', releasing April 18, 2025. Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, it explores C. Sankaran Nair's legal battle after the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Based on The Case That Shook the Empire, the film is not a sequel to 2019's 'Kesari'.
Release of Akshay Kumar and Ananya Panday's 'Kesari Chapter 2' postponed to April
Akshay Kumar, Ananya Panday, and R. Madhavan are teaming up for 'Kesari Chapter 2', a film focusing on C. Sankaran Nair and the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. Originally slated for March 14, 2025, the release has been pushed to April 2025.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed via social media that 'Kesari Chapter 2 - The Untold Story', writing, "KESARI CHAPTER 2 - THE UNTOLD STORY OF JALLIANWALA BAGH RELEASE DATE FINALISED…Produced by Dharma Productions, Leo Media Collective & Cape of Good Films… The film releases on 18 April 2025… Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi… Starring Akshay Kumar, R. Madhavan, and Ananya Panday."
The film 'Kesari Chapter 2' draws its story from Raghu and Pushpa Palat's book, 'The Case That Shook the Empire'. It focuses on the 1924 lawsuit where Michael O'Dwyer, a key figure in the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, sued C. Sankaran Nair.
Akshay Kumar will portray a lawyer in 'Kesari Chapter 2', while Ananya Panday's character will seek his guidance. Reports indicate that there will be no romantic relationship between the two characters in the film.
Meanwhile, 'Kesari', released in 2019, featured Akshay Kumar as Havildar Ishar Singh, a soldier in the Battle of Saragarhi. The film depicts the true story of 21 Sikh soldiers who fought against 10,000 invaders. Chopra also played a pivotal role in the film. Critics gave the film positive reviews. Kumar plays Havildar Ishar Singh, the leader of the Sikh regiment. Parineeti Chopra was cast as Kumar's character's wife.
'Kesari Chapter 2' will explore a different historical event, focusing on the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
