Early this week,
Tanushree Dutta levied allegations of sexual harassment against veteran actor
Nana Patekar on the sets of ‘Horn Ok Pleassss’. Over the course of the week, the actress vehemently lashed out at the actor and encouraged the Bollywood industry to “boycott” him and choreographer
Ganesh Acharya, who she alleged was complicit.
In a tell-all press meet that she held on Thursday, the actress also opened up about the trauma she and her family had to go through after being physically attacked by workers of Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena on the film sets.
While speaking about a #MeToo movement in India, she also hit out at film producer Sami Siddiqui and director Rakesh Sarang.
However, Nana Patekar later rubbished Dutta’s allegations.
Nonetheless, the actress seems to have won the support of several Bollywood stars who took to social media to voice their support for Tanushree. Echoing the sentiments, actress Richa Chadha said that it “takes a special courage to be #TanushreeDutta."
She tweeted, "It hurts to be #TanushreeDutta rn. To be alone, questioned. No woman wants publicity that opens the floodgates of trolling and insensitivity. What happened to her on set was intimidation. Her only fault was she didn't back down-takes a special courage to be #TanushreeDutta."
Swara Bhasker, on the other hand, tweeted, "#IBelieveYouTanushreeDutta” while posting a video of the actress making the allegations against Nana Patekar.
Actor
Farhan Akhtar also came out in Tanushree’s support and shared that the actress’ courage must be admired and that one must not question her intentions.
