Vasan Bala and Alia Bhatt recently collaborated for the film 'Jigra'. While the action drama was their first film together, Vasan says after working with the actress, directors are likely to suffer when they make their next film. In a recent interview, Vasan shared how Alia is a star with no baggage and cleverly understands what a director needs in a shot without even communicating it to her.

Do you think Jigra wasn't appreciated enough?

In a recent conversation with Mashable India, director Vasan Bala was shown a picture of himself with Alia Bhatt from the sets of Jigra. The photo captures a candid moment between the actor and director, sharing a lighthearted exchange. Recalling that day, Vasan reflected, "I clearly remember this day. Because our film was so intense, we barely laughed on sets and I was quiet in my director zone. Usually, sets are funny, but this film lacked humour so the environment on the set used to remain quiet serious. This one day, we had a lighter day and we were just chit chatting and laughing."
Bala praised Alia, saying that any director he admires should have the opportunity to work with her. He joked that after working with her, directors would be spoiled and would likely face challenges in their next projects. He explained that Alia doesn’t require any entourage and is always ready. In fact, sometimes a simple gesture from him was all it took for her to intuitively understand exactly what was needed in a scene.
'Jigra' became the center of controversy when a statement from Vasan Bala made headlines. In an interview with Tried and Refused Productions, Vasan shared his thoughts, "I had written a very kachha pakka email, stream of consciousness thoughts… sent it to Karan and 6-7 hours later, he called saying that I have already sent it to Alia and I was really not happy with it.” The filmmaker added that he was unhappy that he didn’t get a chance to correct errors in his script before sending it to the star. ““I was like I would have at least done some spell check, grammar check, hygiene, written some very nice hero entry… That email was sent and I asked Karan, ‘Why did you do this?’ He said ‘No, no this is how it works. Then he said we’ll meet in a couple of days."
Moreover, Karan Johar's gesture faced a lot of backlash, prompting both him and Vasan Bala to post statements on social media to clear up the misunderstanding.
