Vivek Oberoi files defamation case worth Rs 25 crores.
Vivek Oberoi files defamation case
Vivek Oberoi and his father Suresh Oberoi spent a rather troubled week last week. Vivek and his father were issued a non-bailable warrant from a metropolitan magistrate court with regard to a bounced cheque of Rs 3 crore.
Apart from the father and son, four members from board of directors and a manager from Oberoi Mutimedia Ltd had also been accused for the same. The complaint had been filed by Jawaharlal Agicha who was known to Suresh Oberoi's relative and the company's MD Anand Oberoi and its manager Anil Lalwani.

Agicha informed the police that he received only Rs 50,000 in January 2010 via cheque, while another cheque of Rs 3 crore meant for realisation on October 19, 2010 had bounced. In response to the accusation levied on him and his family, Vivek has retaliated by filing a Rs 25 crore defamation case against Agicha. In his defence Vivek says that the news being spread by Agicha is false and is an attempt to defame him and his family. The Oberois had already filed two different Criminal Writ Petitions before the Mumbai High Court. The High Court had stayed the case pending against them to be heard before the Hon'ble Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court at Mazgaon, Mumbai. When the same was brought to the notice of the Magistrate he stayed his own order of issuing the Non-Bailable-Warrant against Vivek and his father. This fact was brought to the notice of the complainant Jawaharlal Agicha despite which he went ahead and gave false information to the media intentionally to malign Vivek after his attempts of extorting money through various anti social elements failed.
