Nobody knows them as Laxmikant Kudalkar or Pyarelal Sharma. Their identity as Laxmikant-Pyarelal is what made them a legendary composer duo. Their hit compositions from Bobby, Amar Akbar Anthony, Roti Kapada Aur Makaan, Dosti, Hero, Karz, Ram Lakhan, Kranti, Tezaab, Do Raaste, Milan, Khalnayak and Prem Rog, among others, cannot be forgotten. On the sidelines of his latest performance in the city, BT caught up with Pyarelal and he reminisced about music making back in the day.
Talking about the hard work that went into making Hindi film music in the past, Pyarelal says, “Our days were different. Music-making in the past demanded a lot of hard work. We always kept discovering ourselves by understanding the need of the directors and the characters they would create. We used to work through the day for almost the entire week on songs, background scores and other aspects.”
