Last year, on January 13, the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA), presented a special programme 'Raag Shayari', to commemorate the birth centenary of legendary poet, writer, and lyricist,
Kaifi Azmi.
He was a prominent Indian Urdu poet and is remembered as the one who brought Urdu literature to Indian motion pictures.
And this year with the lockdown across the globe in order to combat the pandemic COVID-19, the NCPA began its home series last month.
The series showcase includes exclusive videos and content from across genres. And on May 8, this year, 'Raag Shayari: A musical tribute to Kaifi Azmi' will be showcased digitally.
The digital premiere of that programme features internationally acclaimed tabla maestro
Ustad Zakir Hussain, eminent writer and poet
Javed Akhtar, singer and music director
Shankar Mahadevan, and renowned actress
Shabana Azmi. Along with these stalwarts, two talented young instrumentalists Purbayan Chatterjee (sitar) and Dilshad Khan (tabla) will be seen providing melodic support to the soulful performances. These digital shows have been curated specially for art and music enthusiasts who can enjoy some of the finest performances on youtube from the confines of their home.
