Atul Satya Koushik explores comedy with ‘Dad’s Girlfriend’

Playwright and director Atul Satya Koushik, best known for his mythological productions, is stepping into the world of comedy with his latest play, Dad’s Girlfriend. The play, set to be staged on February 8 at St. Andrews, delves into the dynamics of a father-daughter relationship through humor and heartfelt storytelling.
“My major work has always been in mythology,” says Koushik. “This play is only my second comedy in the last two years. The first was My Wife’s 8th Vachan, featuring Anup Soni, Monisha Singh Katial, and Vinay Jain. Comedy appeals to me as well as the audience. I have observed a lot of humor and light moments in life, and I believe comedy is a great tool for conveying a message. Starring Shailesh Lodha, Dad’s Girlfriend offers a humorous yet insightful look at modern family relationships."
The play explores misunderstandings within a family, showing how bonds can remain strong despite conflicts. “The most important aspect of Dad’s Girlfriend is its take on family dynamics and the humorous yet heartfelt misunderstandings that come with them,” says Lodha. “It highlights how relationships can be both complex and endearing, reminding us that despite everyday disagreements, love and connection prevail.”
