'Ek Mulaqaat' transports you into the era of Sahir Ludhianvi, his poems and Amrita Pritam

A play marked with beautiful music, poetry, and soulful performances from actors Shekhar Suman and Deepti Naval, Ek Mulaqaat had its 25th show in Mumbai recently.
True to their characters, the play starts with Amrita (Deepti Naval) receiving a trunk call from Mumbai, and on the other hand her friend and lover Sahir Ludhianvi, a poet and renowned lyricist of Bollywood appears on her terrace.

Shekhar who has beautifully portrayed the character of Sahir, effortlessly mouthed poetry and Urdu dialogues and transports you into an era which was marked with such literary shayris and beautiful lyrics of Hindi films.

His performance is spontaneous and does not at all look rehearsed. Shekhar says, "When we performed the play for the first time at NCPA, there were 1200 people sitting in the audience and we are happy that in the 25th show at Sophia's auditorium, it is packed. I am fortunate to have essayed this character of Sahir and could make it look convincing for the audiences."

With one hour and 10 minutes, the play is compact, to the point and delivers. The audiences were completely engaged in the flow of the drama as there was no interval and people could connect with the emotions. Deepti Naval also, on her part, mouths many Punjabi poems and gives a great performance.
