Lara holds a livestream; she gets compared to the creepy character Momo
Lara started an online livestream to interact with fans directly and to celebrate the release of the group’s new song ‘Gnarly’. While most comments on the livestream were about the members or the comeback, one such comment popped up that compared Lara to a creepy and scary character called ‘Momo’.
The comment immediately sparked outrage and worry amongst fans of the group online as they shared how demeaning and uncalled for the statement was. The idol was seen to be visibly shaken and negatively affected by the comment, which worried the fans more. Seeing the situation unfold, Lara’s fellow teammates quickly jumped in and defended the singer.
Manon and Daniela come to Lara’s defence
Seeing the comment, fellow group member of KATSEYE Manon quickly jumped in and defended Lara. She called the person out for making the rude comment and said, “That’s (the comparison) so stupid. I want to see what you look like, dumb***.” Daniela then proceeded to hug Lara as well to provide her support.
Fans worry about racism against Lara
Many fans took to online social media platforms and fan forums to discuss the issue. Many called the comment out and shared that it was shameful that Lara was being compared to the character. Many also alleged that the comment was specifically made due to the idol being Indian. Fans shared that when finally Indian representation in the pop music culture is growing, incidents like this occur and bring shame to the community.
