Director-actor Rishab Shetty achieved enormous success after the release of 'Kantara' in 2022, today on September 30, which showcased the regional culture and tradition with its fascinating story. For the film, he received a lot of praise from the audience who wrote and directed it. One of the notable aspects was the budget. The movie was made on a mere budget of Rs 16 crore and minted Rs 400 crore in its worldwide gross collections.
Additionally, he won the National Award for Best Actor, while Kantara was honoured with the National Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment at the 70th National Film Awards.

After its massive success, the makers are gearing up for its sequel, 'Kantara: Chapter 1' where Rishab will be again seen taking the lead role. As today the film celebrates its second anniversary, let's look into his efforts in the film.

Rishab's dedication has been evident in various aspects of 'Kantara'. He performed the traditional Bhuta Kola dance himself, as he took extensive training to master this art form. His performance was a standout moment in the film. Additionally, Rishab executed the bull race sequence in 'Kantara' without a body double. The Kambala race scene was filmed over 24 hours, during which he not only acted but also directed. This physically demanding sequence tells about his commitment to delivering the authenticity of the project.


Now for the sequel of the film, 'Kantara: Chapter 1', Rishab is learning Kalaripayattu, one of the oldest martial arts in the world. He underwent a rigorous year-long training regimen to master this ancient art, ensuring that he portrays his character with precision and skill. On Instagram, he shared a picture from his training sessions where he is seen holding a sword and a shield, in a dhoti and vest.
Earlier, in 2023, the makers shared the first look at the project, which revealed Rishab's significant physical transformation; he appears more chiselled and bulked up than before.
In the teaser, he is seen in a fierce and divine look, drenched in blood as he looks up to the moon with anger. The movie is expected to hit theatres in early 2025. An official confirmation is still awaited.
