Actor and social activist
Chetan Kumar spent his birthday in judicial custody after his arrest on Tuesday for allegedly making critical remarks against a judge. However, the actor has now got bail and is likely to be released on Monday.
It is reported that the court has directed
Chetan not to make, publish, post or circulate any derogatory statements which disturb communal harmony and public peace.
Chetan’s wife, Megha, is elated with the court order. She posted from Chetan’s Facebook page: “This is to update everyone: We had bail hearing on 23rd February for which order was reserved for today (25th February). We are happy to share that Chetan received bail order today (25th February) at 5:40 pm. However, due to technical formalities, the release order has not yet been issued. Owing to court closure on weekend, the further procedural work and furnishing of bail will be resumed on Monday. Chetan remains under judicial custody at least until Monday. As said by the
Supreme Court: "Depriving liberty even for 1 day is one too many". We are hopeful that his release is not delayed any further. Thanks everyone for your constant support.”

They booked him under Section 505 (2) for statements creating or promoting enmity, hatred or ill-will between classes and Section 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) of the Indian Penal Code.
