Bhajarangi 2 producer
Jayanna’s phone hasn’t stopped ringing. “I’ve never had this kind of calls, be it from fans or from theatre owners, for any of my films. I’m delighted that we have this kind of expectation. This has been my most memorable film journey,” he says.
Bhajarangi 2, which hits the screens today, is a Shivarajkumar-starrer, directed by A
Harsha, and produced by Jayanna and
Bhogendra of Jayanna Films.
Jayanna knew it would be a big film when Harsha narrated the story. “We shot the film over eight different sets, without compromising on anything. Even when we had a setback following a fire on the set, we went ahead with the shoot after erecting a new one. Anyone else would have looked at it as a bad omen, but I had faith in the film. This has worked out with record sales in terms of our Hindi dubbing rights, digital and satellite rights and, eventually, it has gone on to become Shivarajkumar’s first big Telugu release. Our faith paid off.”
The film is slated to hit around 1,000 screens across the country, with a big release in
Karnataka and also in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in Telugu. It is also being released in Arab countries. “So, it becomes the first big national and international Kannada release after the pandemic,” reveals Jayanna.
The filmmaker is excited that people have responded well to the visuals and pictures. “We have had the best technicians working and the results are there to see, given how everyone is talking about the international standard,” he adds.
Though this is Jayanna’s fourth association with Shivarajkumar, this is not the end and there are more plans for the future. “We have already announced our next with
Rishab Shetty. As long as both he and I are alive, we will continue to work on a project each year,” signs off Jayanna.
