Sandalwood's upcoming movie ‘Old Monk’ has created a huge sensation through its title. ‘Topiwala’, ‘Srinivasa Kalyana’ and ‘Birbal Trilogy’, director-actor
MG Srinivas is playing the lead role in the movie and has also directed the movie. Now, Malayalam actor
Sudev Nair has joined the team to play the villain’s role. Sudev Nair is playing a Chief Minister candidate’s role in the movie.
‘Old Monk’ director MG Srinivas revealed the news exclusively to ETimes.
The director said, “We selected him because he is a tremendous and fantastic actor. We wanted a villain who would immediately scare the audience and should look evil. When we were searching for the character, we found his profile and his acting and voice in videos were really good. We approached him and explained his character in the movie, later he sent the videos playing the role and later we were convinced by his acting and selected to play the villain in the movie.”
“We wanted a powerful villain in the movie, who is ten times stronger than the hero. The hero will be a common man, and the villain will be a Chief Minister candidate in the movie. There will be a conflict between the hero and villain which will be part of the story, and the whole second half will be based on this conflict. We are hoping to start shooting by the end of August, but nothing has been finalized. For us, artists’ safety is very much important, let's see how things go in future,” Srinivas added.
Sudev Nair who has acted in Malayalam, Hindi and English, is making his debut in the Kannada film industry with this movie. Srinivas has already completed selecting all the characters for the movie and will start shooting soon.
Aditi Prabhudeva is playing the female lead role in this movie along with S. Narayanan and Ramakrishna playing major roles. Saurabh Vaibhav who has composed music for Bollywood movies is composing music for ‘Old Monk’.
