Guruprasad was found dead at this apartment in Madanayakanhalli, in Bengaluru, on Sunday. The director, who made his debut with the critically acclaimed film Mata, reportedly died by hanging himself from the ceiling fan.
The news came to light after neighbours and localites reported a foul smell emanating from the apartment – signifying that the mortal remains were found days after the suicide. The news comes as a shock to the members of the Kannada film fraternity.
Guruprasad, who has worked in television reality shows, is known for directing films such Director’s Special, Eradane Sala and Ranganayaka. He played cameos in films Badava Rascal, Ananthu vs Nusrath, Kushka, Jigarthanda among others. He was working on his next film Adema. On the personal front, Guruprasad had remarried recently.
According to sources, “Guruprasad was in financial distress. He was under pressure from creditors to repay a loan, and that could have led to him taking such an extreme step.” However, the exact reason for his death is yet to be known.
