The Samyuktha Hegde-Kavitha Reddy incident finally got closure late Sunday night with the latter issuing an unconditional apology to the actor on social media, via a letter and video clipping. Terming it as “extremely unfortunate,” Reddy went on to elaborate how no woman should have to undergo what happened with Samyuktha and her friends at the Agara Lake Park in Bengaluru.
Soon after the apology was issued, Samyuktha said she’s accepted it. “I have seen and read it and hope that we can all move past this incident. I want society to be a safe space for everyone,” she says, adding, “The need for women to feel safe and comfortable is so important and I’m grateful that so many of us came together to take a stand on moral policing. Social media had such a huge role to play in it.”
The actor does share that she’s elated that the issue was resolved so quickly. “I knew what we went through on that evening, so we didn’t want to harass them in the same manner. An eye for an eye makes the world go blind, so we went about everything in the right manner. I’m glad Kavitha acknowledged what she did. I’m now looking forward to a bright and safe future for womankind,” sums up Samyuktha.
