Proud to act in both Malayalam and Kannada film industries: Rachel David
Actress Rachel David, who began her career in the Malayalam film industry, has signed her sixth project there, Koodothram, set in Idukki. Rachel shares that she is thrilled to represent both the Kannada and Malayalam film industries. “My Malayalam debut was a lucky chance. After the success of Love Mocktail, I received offers in Kannada cinema, and now I balance both industries. It’s imperative for an actor to be recognised in different industries to gain wider audience attention,” says Rachel. “For me, the Malayalam industry feels like home ground because I’m comfortable with the language and I find it easy to understand the nuances of their cinema. Though I’m Malayali, I’m also a proud Kannadathi, since I was born and raised in Bengaluru. It’s been a great experience working in both industries,” she adds.
‘I AM NOW LOOKING TO BE MORE SELECTIVE WITH THE KIND OF ROLES I CHOOSE’
The actor adds, “After two releases in quick succession in Kannada cinema, I now want to be more selective and wait for projects that offer me something fresh.” Speaking about her role in Koodotharam, directed by Baiju Ezhupunna, she says, “I play Anjana, a character living in Idukki. The film explores the lives of innocent people deeply intertwined with nature and animals. The character’s native flavour drew me to the project. With a large star cast, the story’s tempo is constantly changing.”
