Raj B Shetty seems to have a knack of picking subjects that are both intriguing and different. After the comic caper Ondu Motteya Kathe and playing baddie in Ammacchi Yemba Nenapu, Raj has now chosen to act in a story that is based on supernatural time travel. The film, which is part of Katha Sangama, an anthology of seven stories, will see Raj playing a jovial and carefree fisherman who experiences time travel on a full-moon day.
“Normally, time travel is depicted in an urban set-up with modern gadgetry and scientific lingo. In this film however, time travel happens in a rural set-up. It’s purely co-incidental that the story has been set against a coastal backdrop and Mangaluru is where it all unravels,” explains Raj. The first look of the film, which sees Raj swimming in the sea with a lighthouse in the backdrop, symbolises that the actor travels back in time in the sea to a place he’s never been to before.
“Time travel is a subject that has not been explored much in Kannada. And, unlike most films you may have watched based on this theme, this one will not unfold on a serious note. It will be entertaining and in trademark Raj B Shetty style, with very witty lines that he has written. We've attempted something new in Kannada cinema, mixing a supernatural phenomenon with entertainment, so, we hope that Kannada audiences lap it up,” sums up Shashi Kumar P, the debutant director of this segment of Katha Sangama.
