Malayalam superstar Mohanlal’s latest release Thudarum is proving to be a solid winner at the North American box office. The film, which was released to positive reviews and strong audience word-of-mouth, is putting up excellent numbers across the USA and Canada, showing remarkable hold even on weekdays . The film comes on close heels with his last film L2: Empuraan which had also set the North America box office on fire - a rare beat for Malayalam films.

As per the latest box office update, Thudarum has grossed $91,950 on its first Monday from 136 locations in North America, a terrific figure for a weekday. This takes the film’s total reported gross in the region to a fantastic $883,500( Rs 7.52 crore) . Breaking it down, the USA has contributed $452,400, while Canada has added an impressive CAD $431,100 to the tally.
What makes this performance even more commendable is that Thudarum’s Monday collections have remained nearly on par with the numbers registered by the much-hyped L 2:Empuraan which also had Mohanlal in the lead and was directed by Prithviraj, further cementing Mohanlal’s enduring popularity and star power in international markets.
