    Malayalam cinema, also often addressed as the Mollywood is based in Kerala, the southern side of India. JC Daniel is regarded as the father of Malayalam cinema as he is the pioneer who has directed and produced the first Malayalam movie, ‘Vigathakumaran’. The filmmaker had to put everything he had at stake to make the movie. ‘Vigathakumaran’ was released in 1928 and it was a silent film. 10 years later in 1938, S Nottani made the first talkie (sound film) titled ‘Balan’. The movie also marks the third feature film in the Malayalam language. ‘Balan’ opened new possibilities and the industry has been growing ever since then. From late Prem Nazir to the recent talent Fahadh Faasil, the industry has seen some of the finest talents in Indian cinema and the voyage continues.
