The makers of the National Award winning film 'Astu' are all set to release the film in Pune this Friday. The film which stars MohanAgashe
and AmrutaSubhash
among others, has been doing the rounds of various festivals and the makers have finally decided to give it a theatrical release this Friday, albeit only in Pune
. Speaking about the decision director Sunil Sukhtankar
said, "Most of the actors from the film are basically from Pune
and the story is based in the city as well." ALSO READ: Marathi films shine at the 61st National AwardsHe added, "Pune has the right kind of audience for a Marathi film.
If the film is appreciated by the Pune
audience, it will be accepted at other centres
as well. Besides, MohanAgashe
is the co producer of the film and he felt that the film should either have a mega release across all centres
or else a small release at an important centre
. That's why we are releasing the film in Pune
as of now and a month later at the other centres
"The film has been directed by Sunil Sukhtankar

and revolves around a man suffering from dementia and his relation with an elephant.
