Veteran actor Sardar Sohi experimented with diverse genres of acting in his cinematic career of more than 35 years. Despite natural talent, the movie star gets anxious in comedy roles. He calls the new-age humour not easy to do. “I am not at ease doing comedy,” admits Sohi, who is senior among many actor-writers in Punjabi films.
“I find it absurd sometimes. We have done comedy in the past, in movies and onstage, but this new generation funny sequences are at another level. I can’t understand what’s going on. Maybe it’s the current style or rage but I am not fit for it.” There have been occasions when Sohi got uncomfortable doing a comedy scene. "For me, there cannot be so many different types of comedies. Comedy has to be just simple and light-hearted.” Sohi also said that people ask him if he is comfortable doing serious roles. "And I tell them anything which shares a connect with society, I love it.”
