Meghana needs to devote more time to S'wood
Her Sandalwood debut, Punda, may not have done well at the box office, but Meghana Sundar Raj says that hasn’t stopped Kannada film offers from coming her way. “I did have a lot of expectations from my first film, but it failed. I was disappointed in the beginning, but I did not lose hope,” says Meghana.
And her optimism seems to have paid off - Meghana will star in director-actor Nagashekar’s Myna, whose film Sanju Weds Geetha is doing well at the box office.

“It’s a dream subject and I never expected to get the chance to do something like this so early in my career. I’m glad the director is Ravi Srivatsa of Deadly Soma fame. I’m sure other heroines will envy my role once they see my character on the big screen,” is all Meghana says about her “unique role” in the film.
The actor, meanwhile, has been making headway in other southern film industries. “My last Malayalam film was the Mammootty-starrer August 15, in which my performance was appreciated. I have another film titled Swantham Rasiya, which is ready for release,” says Meghana, adding, “I also have three Tamil films - Kallasirippazhaga, Uyarthiru 420 and Nandha Nandhita.”
Is she not getting Sandalwood offers because she seems to be concentrating on doing films in other languages? “I started my career in Kollywood, which is where I was recognized as an actor. Then I moved to Mollywood. But that doesn’t mean that I’ve been neglecting Kannada, which is my mother tongue. I just need to devote more time to Sandalwood, as I want to do as well as I am in other industries,” she maintains.
