Suresh Sangaiah, the director of the acclaimed 2017 film Oru Kidayin Karunai Manu (OKKM), has cast
Premgi Amaren as the lead in his next film, which will also be a rural film on the lines of his debut film.
“We needed someone who looks naïve and can do a certain kind of comedy. We felt Premgi would be a natural in this role. He plays a happy-go-lucky rural youth and how he accidentally gets into a problem and what happens next is what the film is all about.
It will be a rural satire on how small-town courts and police function,” says
Sameer Bharat Ram, who is producing the film.
Interestingly, Mayakka, an 80-year-old woman plays the film’s antagonist. “We auditioned several before finalising this old lady. She’s been part of a few films, but this will be her first major role,” says Sameer.
Swayam Siddha, who was part of a web series, will be playing Premgi’s romantic interest, while Bigg Boss Tamil fame Reshma Pasupuleti will have a crucial role.
RV Saran, who shot OKKM, will be the cinematographer of this film, which will have Anthony Daasan as the music director. The film is set in Aruppukkottai, and the shoot will begin tomorrow there. The team is planning to shoot the entire film in one stretch in a 30-day schedule.
