Given that SP Balasubrahmanyam had a long-lasting career that covered five decades, it is no wonder that even younger heroes hold the singer in high regard.
SPB had sung many chartbusters for actors like Ajith, Vijay,
Suriya and
Vikram in the beginning of their careers.
While the legend has sung only a few numbers for Suriya, some of them have been memorable melodious numbers like Mun Paniya (
Nandha), Kannil Gaanthamendhi Vandhaal (Mounam Pesiyathey), and Yamma Yamma Kaadhal Ponnamma (7aum Arivu).
A dejected Suriya tweeted, "Feel a hole in my heart! It's like loosing a lifetime of happy moments! SPB Sir you’re Eternal.. Your achievements are irreplaceable! Thank you for showing us, what humility means. Will always treasure your work for life! Prayers and Peace...Folded hands #RIPSPBSir (sic)."
For Vikram, the late singer gave one of his most memorable songs — Oh Butterfly, which was a calling card for the actor in his early, struggling days. The actor sent out a press note sharing the grief of fans across the world. And a few years later, th actor also acted alongside the singer in Ullasam, in which SPB played a father figure to his character.
"If you liked music that crossed boundaries like language, you'd like him. I am among the crores of fans who have, over the years, admired and cherished the depth, majesty, and beauty of his voice and his musical prowess. I mourn the loss of Mr SPB. My deepest condolences to his family and music buffs. I pray God that he rests in peace," the statement read.
