The puja of Sasikumar and
Jyotika’s yet-to-be-titled film took place recently in Chennai. The film, written and directed by
Era Saravanan, also stars Samuthirakani, Soori, Kalaiyarasan and Nivedhithaa Sathish in the cast.
“It is a village-based script that throws light on why it’s important to nurture relationships. Sasikumar and Jyotika play siblings, while Samuthirakani sir plays Jyotika’s husband.
Soori will not just provide comic relief in this film; his role is crucial to the script. Kalai, too, essays a role that is different from what he has done so far; it’ll be a challenging character for him. Nivedhithaa plays Jyotika’s daughter,” says Saravanan.
The team has already begun shooting in Thanjavur. He adds, “We will also be filming in Pudukkottai. We will wrap up the entire shoot in these two places in two months.” D Imman and Ruben have been roped in as the composer and editor, respectively.
Saravanan says he had Jyotika and Sasikumar in mind when he wrote the script. “I waited for Jo ma’am to give me an appointment as I felt only she could do justice to the role. When she met me, she was surprised to know that I’d been waiting for her all this while. She heard the script and was very kicked about it. In fact, I was nervous when I narrated the script to her. But Jo ma’am really liked it. Sasi sir is like my brother. He would do a film for me even if there was no story,” he says with a laugh, “But he really liked the story and agreed to do the film.”
